Dytech was founded in 1983 to apply Dyson's extensive knowledge of refractory and heat-resistant technologies to the rapidly developing oil refinery sector.
Dytech quickly became a success through its development of highly porous and malleable ceramic pastes, which could be used in a variety of different ways and industries. By 1999 the company's success attracted the attention of chemicals giant ICI, who purchased Dytech for Synetix, its specialist catalyst division, which was later sold on to Johnson Matthey. Throughout this time Dytech controlled and operated the plant and process through contract to Johnson Matthey.
After the supply contract ended, Dytech used its own patented technologies to re-establish itself as a leading specialist in catalyst supports.
Dytech now supplies many major companies and continues to develop new technologies for its current and future clients.
